Four men have been arrested for allegedly beating up two bodyguards that had been fasting.
Employer Chung Chee Yang and others were accused of slapping, punching, and hitting the two bodyguards, aged 26 and 43, at the One Condominium Complex in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday night, according to Klang police. The arrest took place after a police report was filed yesterday.
“The incident is believed to have happened after the employer scolded the two men for fasting,” the statement by police spokesperson Shamsul Amar said. “The employer also allegedly aimed a pistol at the two men while hurling insults and threats about their religion.”
In the police report, the victims quoted Chung saying: “Did you fast today? I forbade (sic) you from fasting. Who pays your salary? Does Allah pay your salary?”
The victims were also left with visible bruises on their backs and arms, a photo released by the police showed.
The suspects will be investigated for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon, criminal intimidation, and causing religious disharmony. The police will seek a remand order for the suspects at the Klang Court Complex today.
