Taiwanese boba specialist Tiger Sugar opens 3rd Jakarta store in Pluit today

It appears that Jakarta won’t be in short supply of bubble tea — popularly known as boba — anytime soon, as huge demand for the sugary drink continues to attract the market’s big players, including famed Taiwanese brown sugar boba milk specialist Tiger Sugar.

After opening their first store in North Jakarta’s Kelapa Gading mall in April and followed by their second store in Central Jakarta’s Plaza Indonesia in July, Tiger Sugar has ventured north and opened their third store in Emporium Pluit Mall today.

While the brown sugar boba milk drink craze has swept all across Southeast Asia over the past few years, Tiger Sugar is generally regarded as one of the best in the region, earning the devotion of boba fiends in KL, Bangkok, and Singapore, among others. Our friends over at Coconuts Singapore even put Tiger Sugar at the top of their brown sugar pearl milk ranking — all the more impressive considering stiff boba competition in Singapore.

Tiger Sugar only serves brown sugar drinks with two kinds of bubbles, the bigger boba and the smaller pearls. At the first two Jakarta stores, the brown sugar boba and pearl with cream mousse will set you back IDR38,000 (US$2.71). Their Kelapa Gading Mall outlet currently holds a very respectable rating of 4.2 out of 5 on Zomato, while the Plaza Indonesia store is not yet rated.

As always, expect long lines if you plan on joining the sugar rush at Tiger Sugar’s grand opening at Emporium Pluit Mall today.
