So… Indomie goreng ice cream is a real official thing (and not an April Fools’ joke after all)

Indonesians’ love for Indomie is seemingly infinite. Over the years, we’ve seen the iconic instant noodles transformed in all sorts of ways, from Indomie burritos and cakes to potato chips and, most recently, makeup (which unfortunately doesn’t actually smell like Indomie).

But when ads started spreading showing what looked to be an official-looking Indomie brand ice cream treat, many were skeptical and assumed it was some sort of April Fools’ prank.

But it turns out that Indomie ice cream is, in fact, a real thing. It’s a limited edition item released by the ice cream division of Indofood, the manufacturer behind the beloved instant noodle brand.

Indofood Ice Cream’s senior brand manager Leni Damayanty explained in a press release that the Indomie variant of their ChocRocks Cone brand ice cream was launched on April 1. The product description says it includes Indomie Goreng flavor, savory and sweet, accompanied by a sprinkling of instant noodles.

The limited edition ice cream is only being sold in Indomaret outlets until April 24.

“Indofood Ice Cream launched the ChocRocks Cone in appreciation of our consumers, especially teenagers and young adults who are always exploring, looking for new things and trends, and enjoying special moments,” Leni is quoted as saying in the press release.

So how does it taste? According to Tiktokker Jessica Effendy, the ice cream tastes less like Indomie Goreng and more like mocha, so she decided to add regular Indomie as well as egg and chili sauce to the mix (anything for the content, right?)

We might not try that particular combo ourselves, but we’re definitely down to the ice cream itself.

We should note that while this is the first “official” Indomie ice cream, there have been unofficial versions before such as this one from Sydney.
