A small tornado swept across Pererenan Beach as it headed towards Nelayan Beach in Canggu yesterday evening, surprising beachgoers and reportedly damaging beach shacks located in the area.

A number of videos taken from various angles have been making their rounds on Instagram, showing the tornado running its course. One might think that people would run away from the tornado, but this didn’t seem to be the case as some braved the risks to stand by and watch.

Tribun-Bali reported that dozens of shacks along Nelayan Beach were damaged as a result, though authorities have yet to provide an official report.

Indonesia’s Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said there’s potential for heavy rain across Bali until tomorrow, while reminding residents to be cautious of possible flood, landslides, and trees falling.

Last Thursday, houses in Badung regency were submerged in flood while streets turned into streams after heavy rain the previous evening, causing damages to household furniture and cars in the area.
