A drug mule has been sentenced to 12 years prison by a court in Bali after he was caught earlier this year at the Indonesian island’s airport with 70.02 grams of meth up his bum.

Naiman, 42, who is reportedly from Madura, East Java, was served his sentence in Denpasar District Court on Thursday.

The man violated Article 113 Paragraph 2 of Indonesian Law no. 35 of 2009, by carrying more than five grams of a class I narcotic, Denpasar Justice Made Sukereni said in court.

Along with his sentence, the defendant will have to pay a fine of Rp 2 billion or face six additional months behind bars.

Naiman’s sentencing matched the recommendation by prosecutors.

Upon hearing the judge’s verdict, Naiman apparently asked for leniency.

“You cannot reduce it any more, ma’am?” Naiman pleaded, according to Antara Bali.

However, Sukereni stood firm.

Naiman was arrested in Bali in January 2017 when he flew in from KL.

Customs said at the time of his arrest that they had already been suspicion of Naiman and had his name flagged. When they didn’t find any drugs on him with an x-ray scan, they took him to a medical clinic, where they found the meth nestled in his buttocks.
