A photo of a banner displayed inside the Vila Mutiara Gading 2 housing complex in Bekasi has recently gone viral in Indonesia. Written on the banner is a threat that those caught engaging in the immoral act of dating will be beaten to a pulp by a mob of locals.
The banner reads: “HARSH WARNING!!! If YOU dare to engage in immoral activities (dating) in this area, YOU’RE GAMBLING WITH YOUR LIFE. Caught by locals, you’ll get a BONUS of being beaten TO A PULP!!!”
The banner was signed by a group who call themselves Forum Warga Peduli Linkungan (Concerned Citizens Forum).
According to a netizen, the neighborhood has had enough of public displays of affection (PDA) in the housing complex’s secluded areas, which is why they decided to put up the banner.
It’s not known how effective the banner has been in reducing PDA and whether or not the locals have actually beaten anyone for engaging in the extremely immoral act of dating.
