Viral: 2 stranded Russians busking around Sudirman, claim to have lost passports

Two Russian university students are becoming the talk of town after their story went viral recently on social media.

It is believed that the pair, identified on social media as Dimitrii Abdugafarov and Aleksandra Kolesnikova from Moscow State University, are stranded in Jakarta after losing their passports. Their situation is supposedly so dire that they were spotted and photographed busking at the Sudirman train station. The photo was posted online and quickly went viral on social media.

The post above describes how Dimitrii and Aleksandra were in Indonesia to conduct research for their university. While in Papua, they said they lost their passports, money, and other valuables. Now that they’re in Jakarta, they’ve turned to busking in order to fund their way home because they said the Russian embassy “did not respond” to them when they sought assistance.

However, the same post also includes what is supposedly a response from a staff member of the Russian embassy, who said that the pair did indeed seek help from the embassy, but that they refused various offers of assistance because they’re staying with an Indonesian family in Jakarta and that they already have plans to go back to Russia in August.

According to Merdeka, the two Russians can no longer be seen busking at Sudirman station.
