PT Transjakarta, the managing company of the Transjakarta buses, is grounding 60 Chinese manufactured buses after one of them caught fire over the weekend because of a suspected electrical problem.
The announcement was made today on PT Transjakarta’s Twitter account, @PT_Transjakarta:
There is a reduction in the Transjakarta service starting today as 30 Zhongthong units and 30 Yu Tong units are GROUNDED.
To ensure the passenger’s safety and comfort, Transjakarta is grounding 30 Zhongthong and 30 Yu Tong units.
The buses will be operational once Zhongthong and Yu Tong can guarantee operational safety and are ready to be held responsible for all risks involved.
Grounding 60 buses would certainly have an effect on Transjakarta’s daily operations, but the company says they’re shuffling their bus armada around to meet passenger demand:
In relation to the 30 grounded Zhongthong buses, Corridor 9 service is affected. Buses from other corridors are being re-directed to help.
