Police in West Jakarta are trying to locate a domestic worker who was filmed abusing her employer’s small child, the video of which recently went viral.

In the video, which has been circulating widely today, the unidentified domestic worker is seen aggressively trying to paste a piece of sticky paper to the face of a young boy — who does not appear to be any older than five — whose legs and hands were tied with ropes. The boy was crying throughout the short video.

Though it’s not yet immediately clear who filmed the incident, the video was somehow obtained by the boy’s mother and the domestic worker’s employer, a 38-year-old woman identified by her initials TY, who then uploaded it to Facebook with a warning to the public not to employ the alleged abuser.

According to reports, the domestic worker ran away from TY’s house shortly after the incident. Her whereabouts are not yet known.

“We are gathering and collecting information such as the video recording that showed the child abuse. We are hunting for the culprit,” Commissioner Teuku Arsya, who heads the West Jakarta Police Crime Investigation Unit, told state news agency Antara today.

The police have also yet to determine whether or not there were accomplices in the alleged abuse of TY’s son.
