HY (28) had pixelated porn to thank for for his life of luxury. For two years, his pirated hentai DVD empire, which brought in Rp 20 million a month, helped him buy a large house beyond his legal means.
But his empire came crashing down on Wednesday.
The police went undercover to catch HY in the act of selling a hentai DVD from his luxurious home in Tambun, Bekasi noon yesterday.
“The house was spacious. It was large, too,” said one of the police officers who captured HY, as quoted by Warta Kota yesterday.
“It’s like the house took up a whole block.”
Police found evidence that HY’s lifestyle was funded simply by selling hentai DVDs.
“Just look at how thick his book of transaction records is,” said the police officer.
The police calculated that HY made Rp 20-30 million a month from his business. That is roughly 10 times more than what he made from his official day job as a courier.
For his illegal business, HY downloaded hentai movies from the internet and burned them onto DVDs. He sold the DVDs for Rp 15,000 a piece on his blog.
The police confiscated 4,421 blank DVDs as well as a hard drive containing 2,916 hentai movies from HY’s home.
HY was charged with violating Article 29 of Law No 44 in 1998 on pornography. He could face six months to 12 years in prison.
