A man from Central Lampung, Lampung province may face severe punishment, pending a psychiatric evaluation, after claiming that supernatural whispers led him to behead his father and parading the head around the village yesterday.
The suspect, a young man identified by his initials KW, severed his father’s head at their home, before he placed it in a sack and paraded it around his village while driving around on a motorcycle.
Following his arrest, KW confessed to killing his father as he had heard whispers in his head that his father was going to place a curse on him.
“The suspect is believed to have mental issues. But we are confirming that,” Central Lampung Police Chief Popon Sunggoro said today.
Kukuh is reportedly under examination at the Lampung Provincial Mental Health Hospital.
Premeditated murder is a crime punishable by the death penalty in Indonesia, though it’s likely that KW may plead insanity in this case.
