Two alleged robbers armed with sickles were arrested in East Jakarta early on Sunday following an intense high-speed motorcycle chase, video footage of which has gone viral online.
The video, which was taken in Cakung, shows the East Jakarta Police’s Rajawali task force, which was formed to fight street crime, chasing the two robbers on a motorcycle. One cop, armed with a rifle, is seen shooting the two robbers a couple of times, wounding them until they came to a stop.

According to East Jakarta Police Chief Arie Ardiyan, the two suspects, who are identified by their initials WDF (17) and MSA (18), had mugged a pedestrian and taken his phone after they threatened to hurt him with their sickles.
The Rajawali task force officers patrolling the area were alerted to the mugging and chased the two teenage suspects.
“The officers fired warning shots, but [the suspects] tried to escape,” Arie told Detik today.
Both of the suspects were each shot once during the chase.
“One was shot in the leg, the other was shot in the abdomen,” Arie said.
The suspects were later treated at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for their wounds. It’s not yet clear what specific charges they would face.
