A renowned makeup artist mostly known for his works with Indonesia’s leading celebrities is facing allegations of abduction and sexual harassment of a male model.
The alleged victim, identified by his initials DT, recently posted a number of stories as well as a post on Instagram about AC, the makeup artist. DT said AC had offered him a job and asked him to stay at the latter’s apartment in Setiabudi, South Jakarta.
“Please arrest this makeup artist, AC, there have been many victims who were sexually harassed but they’re afraid to speak up. Perverted makeup artist!” DT wrote on his Instagram story, mentioning the accounts of South Jakarta Police, popular gossip account Lambe Turah, and AC’s celebrity clientele, such as Agnez Mo and Laudya Chintya Bella.
DT alleged via story posts on Instagram that AC had locked him up in his apartment, and pleaded for someone to rescue him. He eventually managed to escape the alleged abduction.
DT claimed there were other victims at AC’s apartment, some of whom were as young as 19, who stayed behind out of fear and because they “didn’t know where else to go.”
Outside the said group of young men, DT claimed that AC had numerous other victims who are still afraid to speak up about their alleged harassment. In one of his posts, DT urged people to report AC’s Instagram account and asked other victims to come forward.
AC’s two Instagram pages — one personal and one for business — have been set to private at the time of writing. DT also said that he has filed a complaint at the Setiabudi sub-precinct, though he claimed that officers didn’t take his report seriously.
“They didn’t serve me well. Maybe because both the harasser and the victims are men. They didn’t ask about the name of the suspect at all! I don’t know if they had proceeded with my report or not. Hopefully the law in Indonesia does not discriminate against [certain groups],” DT wrote.
Setiabudi Police Chief Yogen Heroes Baruno denied DT’s claims, saying that the police have accepted the complaint, but the evidence presented at the time was inadequate to launch an investigation.
“Officers considered how there was a lack of formal and material requirements to report a crime, so they suggested for him to return with thorough evidence as well as witnesses,” Yogen said yesterday.
Yesterday, authorities reportedly apprehended AC and took him in for questioning, though no charges have been filed as of today. Yogen said that DT’s allegations against AC included the latter touching the former’s genitals when he was asleep and opening the bathroom door without permission when he was inside.
