Police in Garut, West Java have arrested a man suspected of brutally murdering his girlfriend due to jealousy.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old WT, was found dead by a river on Friday with a bamboo stick pierced through her anus. On Sunday, police identified her boyfriend, 21-year-old DH, as the sole suspect in the homicide case and made an arrest.
To the police, DH confessed to killing WT out of jealousy.
“His motive was that he was jealous of seeing the victim often chatting with other men on social media,” Garut Police Chief Adi Benny Cahyono told reporters today.
Police say DH killed WT last Tuesday after the victim decided to end their relationship. The suspect confessed to first strangling the victim until she lost consciousness before he grabbed a bamboo stick nearby and pierced her anus with it. He said he then pushed her over the cliff and left her for dead.
DH was charged with murder under the Criminal Code (KUHP) and may face up to 15 years in prison.
