A 25-year-old man, identified by his initial N, from the East Java regency of Probolinggo turned himself in to the local police after he allegedly killed his friend, who allegedly raped his wife twice in the past month.
According to the police, on Saturday morning, N went to a local market where he sold clothes, leaving his wife, 22-year-old J, home alone. N’s close friend, 25-year-old Slamet Widodo, went to see J while her husband was out. Slamet was about to rape her and threatened her with a knife if she resisted.
“During the rape attempt, N came home and caught [Slamet]. N took his machete and stabbed the victim with it several times. The victim died from loss of blood,” Probolinggo Police Crime Investigation Unit Head Rizki Santoso told Kompas yesterday.
Rizki added that N turned himself in soon after killing Slamet.
Based on the police’s initial investigation into the case, Slamet raped J on two occasions while N wasn’t at home in the past month.
Police said N was not aware about the previous rapes until after he killed Slamet.
N was charged with premeditated murder, which carries the death penalty.
