Nicholas Sean Purnama, the eldest son of former Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, has been formally accused of assault by an Instagram influencer.

The Penjaringan Precinct in North Jakarta said that the assault charge against Nicholas was filed on Aug. 27, detailing an incident that allegedly took place at a renowned luxury car showroom in the district.

“Yes, there was a complaint based on Article 351 [of the Criminal Code for assault], the accused bears the initials NSP,” Penjaringan Precinct Chief Commissioner Rinaldo Aser said yesterday.

The complaint document has leaked to the media, confirming Nicholas as the accused and the accuser being a woman named Ayu Thalia.

Ayu, who goes by the Instagram handle @Thata_Anma, is a social media influencer who works at the aforementioned showroom. She has also posed with Nicholas in at least one of her posts, hinting at a possible romantic relationship.

“At the time I was in my office at the showroom, and then the perpetrator approached me to discuss my relationship with him,” Ayu wrote in the complaint.

“And then the perpetrator told me to get in his car, so I went with the perpetrator and we had a chat in the car. The perpetrator told me I broke his heart and he did not wish to see me again, and the perpetrator pushed me out of the car, after which I fell and got injured.”

Ayu posted a story on Instagram yesterday showing her scraped skin just below her knees, though she did not explicitly say it was the direct result of the alleged assault.

Nicholas’ lawyer, Ahmad Ramzy, told reporters this morning that the assault allegations made against his client were false. Ahmad also denied any romantic relationship or past between Nicholas and Ayu.

Under Article 351 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), assault is punishable by up to 2 years and 8 months in prison.
