Musician-turned-politician Ahmad Dhani has more or less kept quiet following his loss in the Bekasi Regency elections a couple of months ago, but he’s still being political, at least on social media, causing quite an embarrassment to himself recently.
On April 15, Dhani created a poll on Twitter in which he asked, “Does the public still believe in the law?”, possibly in reference to the blasphemy charges against Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, or perhaps that fact that he his currently under investigation for allegedly being part of an attempted government coup.
Apakah rakyat masih percaya pada hukum??

The choices Dhani gave in the poll were merely “yes” or “no”, but many inevitably pointed out in the tweet’s replies that he shouldn’t be one to talk about justice.

Buddy, your son wasn’t punished for claiming the lives of others… Do you believe in the law?
Also, in a hilarious marketing twist, netizens used the hashtag #AdaAqua (Do you have Aqua?) – a promo campaign by local bottled water brand Aqua to hydrate those who can’t focus their thoughts – to which Aqua capitalized by tweeting their ad numerous times in reply to Dhani’s tweet.

Mas @AHMADDHANIPRAST should drink Aqua, so you don’t lose focus and lose your memory.
Here’s a reminder: in 2013, Dhani’s son, Abdul “Dul” Qadir Jaelani, who was 13 at the time, was illegally driving a high-powered sports car, given to him by his father, on the Jagorawi toll road. He crashed his vehicle into a minivan, killing seven and injuring 11 others.
As is often the case with traffic incidents involving rich kids, Dul was found guilty but managed to escape punishment. Dhani paid money to the victim’s families but denied that giving his 13-year-old son a sports car made him in any way responsible for the deadly accident.
In case you’re wondering, at the time of writing, “yes” and “no” are neck and neck in Dhani’s poll with 49 and 51 percent of the 14,000 votes respectively. Maybe not all Indonesians are disillusioned with the country’s justice system after all.
Dhani might actually favor a faulty justice system in Indonesia, at least in regards to his treason charges, so that he can continue with his obsession of calling Ahok a blasphemer. In fact, he just created a music video on that subject with outspoken Gerindra politician Fadli Zon. And maybe, for the 2019 presidential election, he can star in another music video for Prabowo Subianto, decked out in a Nazi uniform like last time.
