The Witness and Protection Agency (LPSK) says it’s offering legal protection to an alleged sexual harassment victim, who publicly came forward this week to say she was assaulted by a celebrity.

In a Twitter thread posted on Tuesday, the alleged victim said the celebrity, a radio announcer/podcaster/YouTuber who goes by the initials GH, groped her on the dance floor at a nightclub in 2018. She tried to resist him as he explored her body under her dress with his hands, and was eventually rescued by another man who stepped in after seeing that she was under distress.

Her tweets have spread like wildfire since, with the public calling for GH to be prosecuted for sexual harassment. GH has categorically denied the accusations, and said that he is prepared to go down the legal route to prove his innocence.

But with one more alleged victim speaking up against GH, public opinion is not, by any means, on his side. A renowned culinary/tattoo parlor business that GH co-founded in Jakarta has even terminated ties with him amid the allegations, declaring that they are fully siding with the alleged victims.

With a legal threat looming, LPSK says it’s ready to offer protection to at least the first victim.

“The legal protection can be afforded if the victim is reported to the police by the perpetrator. But it’s better that the victim report the perpetrator to the police first,” LPSK Deputy Chairman Edwin Partogi told reporters today.

As of this article’s publication, no formal complaints by either party have reportedly been filed with the police. The alleged first victim recently tweeted that she’s trying to gather video evidence from the night of the assault.

The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) has praised the alleged first victim for speaking up, especially as she has been victim-blamed by netizens who said she brought it on herself by being around drunk people at a nightclub.
