Even in Indonesia, where many women choose to wear jilbabs (headscarves) and niqab (veils), there are plenty of stereotypes and prejudices about what those women should be like and what they should be allowed to do. Many of those same prejudices are held by people who both do and do not wear Islamic clothing.
This fantastic video follows the story of five strong women as they struggle to battle those stereotypes and keep their passions alive.
The video was produced by HIJUP, which describes itself as “a pioneering covered fashion store”, as part of their #EmpowerChange campaign. It is well worth 5 minutes of your time.
