Indonesian actress Cynthia Ramlan was hospitalized following a film stunt that went horribly wrong and almost claimed her life.

The sinetron (Indonesian soap opera) actress was filming a scene on Friday in which a car was supposed to dramatically brake right before hitting her character who was lying on the road.

However, as this video posted on popular Instagram gossip account @lambe_turah shows, the car — driven by another actor, Meidian Maladi — literally ran over the 30-year-old mother of one and stopped when its front left tire was just mere inches away from her head.

Cynthia was immediately taken to Pondok Indah Hospital in Bintaro by the crew. Thankfully, her injuries were not as severe as feared, as announced by her sister and fellow actress Olla Ramlan.

“She’s surely traumatized. She was shaking yesterday, now she has shortness of breath. Hopefully she’ll get better,” Olla told reporters yesterday, as quoted by Kompas.

Olla added that she was disappointed in the safety standards during the shoot, but indicated that charges would not be filed against the sinetron’s production company or Meidian.

“If we see the video, another second and [her head] would be squished. That’s someone’s life. So they have to be more aware [about safety], more careful in soap production,” she said.

Meidian said he has apologized to Cynthia and her family. When asked about the incident, Meidian said it was purely an accident borne out of miscommunication between him and the crew.

“The scene was [dangerous to shoot] because that was what was required, but I didn’t know Cynthia was still down there. In essence, it was miscommunication,” he said, as quoted by Kompas.

Right after the accident, Cynthia’s husband asked the police to conduct a urine test on Meidian to see if he was driving under the influence, which came back negative.
