Indonesian tourism has got much more to offer than just Bali, and it’s certainly nice to have that recognized internationally.

In a survey by luxury lifestyle magazine Condé Nast Traveler, Indonesia topped the Top 20 Countries in The World: 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards list, in which the readers rank their favorite countries to visit around the world. Also in the list are neighbors Thailand in second place, the Philippines in eighth, and Cambodia in 19th.

There’s certainly a lot about Indonesia that appeal to readers of the magazine, as Bali also ranked 5th for Asia’s Top 5 in The Best Islands in the World: 2019: Readers’ Choice Awards

In addition, two luxury Indonesian hotels also made the Top 20 Hotels in Asia: Readers’ Choice Awards 2019, where readers rate their top hotels in Asia outside of Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta came in fifth, while (the possibly haunted) Hotel Tugu Malang, which houses a vast collection of Babah Peranakan-influenced antiques, came in 20th place.

Indonesia has some of the best resorts in Asia too, with Bawah Reserve on the Riau Islands and Nihi on Sumba Island making the list of Top 20 Resorts in Asia: Readers’ Choice Awards 2019.

The above lists are part of the 32nd edition of the annual Readers’ Choice Awards by Condé Nast Traveler. For this year’s survey, up to 600 thousand registered voters weighed in to vote for the world’s best hotels, resorts, cruise lines, to cities and countries of destination, among others.
