Fans of singer-songwriter NIKI and rapper Rich Brian, you might have to prepare yourselves (and funds) as two of Indonesia’s most famous musical exports could be soon returning to their hometown of Jakarta, two years after their planned homecoming performance.

The two LA-based artists were previously slated to perform at their label 88rising’s Head In The Clouds (HITC) music and arts festival in Jakarta in early March 2020, before it was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Their label, 88rising, hinted at their prospective homecoming performance in a tweet today:

While there’s no further information regarding their performance in Jakarta, 88rising is slated to hold Head In The Clouds Festival on Aug. 20 and 21 in Pasadena, CA. In a reply to a tweet, 88rising said that they will soon announce whether or not ticket holders of the postponed 2020 HITC Jakarta can still use their tickets for the upcoming festival.

On an exciting note, NIKI and Rich Brian will finally make their debuts at Coachella, after the world famous music festival having undergone postponements and cancellations in the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Coachella will be held over two weekends from April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA.

NIKI and Rich Brian’s Coachella appearance will make them the first Indonesian solo artists to perform at the festival. The frontman of Australian band Temper Trap, Indonesian-born Dougy Mandagi, notably graced the festival in 2010.

22-year-old Brian and 23-year-old NIKI were involved in the OST album for Marvel Studio’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings last year. Brian collaborated with DJ Snake and Rick Ross in Run It, while Niki contributed the super catchy hit Every Summertime to the album.

NIKI’s latest release was a single titled Split, and she also had a feature appearance on HONNE’s song, Coming Home. Brian was featured in viral hit Edamame with Canadian rapper bbno$ and released an EP titled Brightside in January.

Niki and Rich Brian also released a single titled California, which saw them collaborating with fellow 88rising musician from Indonesia, Warren Hue, last year.
