Xie Dongming is the head of the highly influential 3rd Studio at China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts. His distinctive style of oil painting captures not just the imagery but mood, energy and personality of his subjects in both subtle and fantastic ways. “Selfscape” runs until Feb 24 at Galeri Nasional Indonesia.
Use your coins to make change with “Coin a Chance”
Coin a Chance is a charity group in Jakarta that collects people’s coins and uses them to help cover school fees for underprivileged kids. This Sunday they’ll be at CityWalk Sudirman to count the coins they’ve collected and accept donations. You can help them hitung or drop off your change – either way you’ll be doing something great. Komunitas Taufan is a fantastic charity that offers moral and financial support to underprivileged families with sick children (they always need volunteers too!). This Sunday, in honor of International Childhood Cancer Day, they will be holding a Charity Art Festival at fX Sudirman from 10am-8pm to raise money for childhood cancer patients and others with high-risk diseases.
