Brunch on the best Australian bakery treats at Salt Grill’s Brunch of Fun (Sunday)

Australian celebrity chef Luke Mangan’s Salt Grill restaurant is known to be one of the classiest in Jakarta, but they’re going for a more festive atmosphere this Sunday for their Brunch of Fun event. To make this brunch particularly memorable, the restaurant is bringing over representatives of four of Australia’s hottest bakers bringing you some of the Land Down Under’s best gourmet doughnuts, nitrogen gelato, cakes and pastries. Guests can purchase tickets for Rp 180k that will get them 3 food tokens and items can also be purchased a la carte. There will also be savory brunch treats from the restaurant’s executive chef Marjon “MJ” Olguera. Starts at noon.

 

Cheer on the champions at the Jakarta Marathon 

The Jakarta Marathon is the capital’s biggest race of the year and takes over a wide swath of the roads shut down for Car Free Day. Although registration for this Sunday’s race is already over, if you can wake up early enough you can cheer the runners on as they begin the race at Monas at about 5am. For more info 

 

Get crafty at Meet the Makers

Meet the Makers is a craft show held twice each year by a community of artists, craftspeople, designers, and grassroots organizations from all over Indonesia. The goal of the show is to promote craftwork as art in Indonesia and this edition, which will be held at Grand Indonesia’s Alun Alun, and will feature numerous talented artisans selling their handmade wares directly to the public, everything from Dayak weaving to natural-dyed Batiks.  

 

Go full fashionista at Jakarta Fashion Week

Saturday sees the start of Jakarta Fashion Week, Indonesia’s most important sartorial event. If you want to know what we’ll all be wearing in the not too distant future, you’ll want to check out one of the events many fashion shows. Some are open to the public and tickets are free while they last – to get yours go to the JFW schedule page and look for those shows with (Get tickets) on the listing. 

 

Catch an incredible performance at SIPFest

The Salihara International Performing Arts Festival (SIPFest) is still going strong until November 5. SIPFest is one of Jakarta’s biggest performing arts festivals and will feature a number of local and international artists putting on amazing theatrical, dance and musical performances. Among this year’s highlights will be some unique and experimental takes on Indonesian percussion music and a new work by famed Indonesian choreographers Eko Suprianto and Fitri Setyaningsih. Among the international acts we’re looking forward to are She She Pop (a theater group from Germang) Benoît Lachambre & Montréal Danse (a dance company from Canada) and The Human Zoo Theatre Company (a puppet theater group from the UK).
