Go Greek with “Eurydice” a modern theatrical take on mythology (Fri-Sun)

The Jakarta Players is a non-profit community theatre group that puts on English language productions for the capital’s theatre-loving community, with all proceeds going to charity. For their latest play, the group is staging Sarah Ruhl’s “Eurydice”, which transforms the ancient Greek myth into a visceral, contemporary meditation on love worth grieving for.

On the day of her wedding, Eurydice falls victim to a tragic accident that sends her into the underworld. Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love, Orpheus.

Put on your dancing shoes and party at Peaches and Cream (Saturday night)

While most Jakarta clubs still tend to favor house music, we’ve started to notice a lot of places starting to rely on old-school hip hop hits to get their patrons moving. But while we love the classics, it’s easy to go overboard with the nostalgia. Potato Head’s monthly Peaches and Cream events has remains one of the capital’s best club nights for over two years by taking recognizable hip hop hits but giving them just enough of a remixed twist to make them feel new. Plus it almost always packs the cavernous venue with the city’s coolest party people. The selectors for this Saturday’s P and C will be DJs Stan, Nuelante and the inimitable Cream. Get there a bit early if you don’t want to get stuck in a long line. FDC Rp 150k.
