Those who live in or frequent Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) for its ever-growing culinary options can now enjoy tacos from one of the capital’s most renowned taquerias, which has opened an outlet in North Jakarta.
Last week, Taco Local opened its doors to diners visiting Urban Farm on PIK’s Golf Island. Urban Farm itself is a brand new hangout complex that offers a dining experience surrounded by vegetable and fruit farms, complete with a greenhouse that sells plants and eco-friendly products in the heart of the space.
At the PIK outlet, Taco Local offers its usual grubs such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and margaritas. For starters, you can try Tacos Carnitas (roast pork and crispy pork bits), Tacos Lengua (grilled tongue with crispy pork bits), or Tacos Fish (battered white fish with pico de gallo, cabbage, and salsa blanca). Opt for burritos such as Burrito Carne Asada (chopped steak) if you’re up for something more filling.
There’s also vegetarian-friendly options with Tacos Elote, Quesadilla Elote, and Burrito Elote — all using charred corn niblets. Order Classic Margarita or Pinacolada to accompany your chit-chats with your favorite people, along with snacks such as nachos, quesadillas, or Carne Asada Fries if tacos aren’t enough.
This outlet marks Taco Local’s first expansion outside of South Jakarta, after having been a renowned player in Jakarta’s F&B scene for nine years. The taqueria first opened in South Jakarta’s Panglima Polim area in 2012, when Mexican street food was still a rarity. They then moved to the food and creative space Pelaspas, which was previously located on nearby Dharmawangsa street.
Taco Local’s outlet in South Jakarta now occupies Como Park, a community compound-slash-dog park in East Kemang, where they’ve been since late last year.
