It’s pretty easy to find vegan or vegetarian meals in Jakarta nowadays, as more F&B establishments are offering plant-based options. Bearrito, one of South Jakarta’s most well-known tacos and Mexican food purveyors, has jumped on the trend as it is now offering a plant-based twist on quesadillas.

The Vegan Quesadillas is meat and dairy-free, using “beef” and cheddar “cheese” from Green Rebel Foods, a line of ready-to-cook plant-based meat substitutes from Burgreens, one of the pioneering and leading plant-based chains in Jakarta. Priced at IDR72,000 (US$5) per portion, the dish comes with a pico de gallo dip.

We ordered the Vegan Quesadillas just yesterday during its launching day. These weren’t our first Bearrito’s quesadillas, nor are we strangers to Green Rebel Foods and Burgreens, and the meal unsurprisingly met our high expectations.

The Vegan Quesadillas were “meaty” and “cheesy” enough to satiate even our deepest carnivorous desires. The fresh and tangy pico de gallo provided a nice balance to the quesadillas, which we found to be quite filling after just two slices.

If you want to have a taste of the Vegan Quesadillas, you can order it in-store for dine-in or takeaway, through Bearrito’s official Tokopedia page, or through online food delivery services such as Gofood and Grab Food.
