We believe that dim sum is a dish that’s appropriate around the clock. Evidently, we’re not the only ones who think that since there’s now another new 24-hour dim sum joint in Jakarta vying for the attention of late night dumpling lovers.
First established in South Tangerang’s BSD, Haka Dim Sum Shop is a 24-hour dim sum establishment that first opened in the satellite city in December 2018. Haka has become quite popular since, scoring a very respectable 4.0 out of 5 on Zomato.
This month, Haka opened its first Jakarta store in Kemang, which also serves customers around the clock.
Haka serves halal dim sum as well as other Chinese dishes such as hakau, shumai, braised chicken feet (ceker), xiao long bao, chicken porridge with century egg, Bakmi Sapi Haka (beef noodle) and Medan-style cheong fun. Still into the salted egg craze? Don’t miss their Pao Telur Asin, which features salted egg sauce oozing out of black charcoal buns.
You don’t have to dig deep into your pockets to sample your favorite dim sum here because each menu item is priced between IDR18,000 (US$1.28) to IDR30,000 (US$2.14).
Their price points, as well as their hipster-friendly aesthetic (think unfinished cement walls with vintage Hong Kong posters scattered along them), could set them apart from their other open-all-night competitors in Kemang, Dim Sum Festival and Dim Sum Inc.
As evidenced by the comments left by Haka’s customers on their Instagram page, the Kemang shop can be very crowded up until midnight, resulting in complaints about sold out dishes and slow service. If you’re planning to go, plan your time accordingly and prepare yourself to face the possibility that they’ve run out of your favorite dish.
