Thai social media is freaking out over photos of a 4-meter-long python found guarding the beer cooler at a 7-Eleven store in Chonburi yesterday.
The serpent was spotted by the store’s employees at about 9am yesterday morning, who then called Sawangpreteep rescue volunteers to capture it.
The volunteers, who specialize in reptile capture, were sent to deal with the snake and return it to the natural habitat, according to a post on the rescuers’ Facebook page.
The volunteers explained that it only took them about five minutes to put the python in a fertilizer bag.
Though nobody saw the snake slither in, employees believe it entered through the front door to escape the flood outside.
7-Eleven is known to be a shelter for stray animals in their neighborhood. In the past years, we’ve spotted dogs, cats, a goat, and even a mule sticking their heads into the convenience store chain’s outlets for the AC.
But a python? That’s a first. On a more serious note, remember that there’s a 24-hour snake-in-your-house hotline ready to handle all your serpentine hazards throughout the rest of Thailand’s infamously reptilian rainy season.
