Immigration Police released controversial American YouTuber My Mate Nate last night, after they found out he is staying in Thailand on a business visa.
To answer the burning question that many people have, Nate Bartling showed his Non-Immigration Visa “B” to Immigration officers yesterday. They had detained him after he finished a press conference with the State Railway of Thailand over his latest YouTube stunt.
Bartling was allowed to go home after showing his documents.
The Non-B visa allows foreigners to work and conduct business in Thailand. Bartling’s visa is valid for three months and will expire at the end of August, Daily News reported.
However, to work legally for a Thai company, Bartling needs a work permit, which he said he will soon obtain.
Meanwhile, Thai netizens have joined force to sign a petition for Immigration to boot Bartling out of the country, after the internet star’s YouTube videos have continued to draw criticism from the public—the latest one shows him flattening coins on a train track, over which he ended up getting charged for railway trespassing.
Bartling’s YouTube channel My Mate Nate has over 3.2 million followers, but many note that most of his followers are school children, who are often seen leaving comments in support of their idol on social media.
