Photos going viral online today show another young couple spray painting a large wall with graffiti on the beautiful island of Koh Lanta, off the coast of Krabi.
The photos were taken by a passerby on Saturday and posted to the Facebook group Koh Lanta Info on Sunday.
The shots, taken by a foreign man vacationing on the island, show a farang guy near a graffiti-covered wall with a spray can in his hand while his girlfriend lurks near their motorcycle.
The caption reads, “I think everyone should know what these people have been doing to this lovely island. They were seen tagging yesterday on Lanta. Name and shame guys.”
The man wasn’t even leaving small tags, like the American couple arrested and fined last month in Bangkok after a viral video showed them “tagging” on Silom Road — he was creating a full, wall-sized mural.
The last two, Bruce Baizer, 29, and Kristin Jones, 22, were quickly found in a nearby guesthouse and had to pay a fine of THB5,000 (about US$153) for vandalism. Many believed the punishment should have been harsher.
Much like Baizer and Jones, this tourist also does not appear to have any talent for graffiti.
The best commenting exchange has to be when they discuss his merits as a artist. One commenter wrote “Hope they catch him. Talk about artistically challenged, that’s some of the worst tagging I’ve ever seen!” while another replied. “He ain’t Banksy, that’s for sure.”
Many commenters, who called the couple “fuckheads,” “shitbags,” “hooligans,” “idiots” and disrespectful, pointed out that you can see the motorcycle’s license plate number and they can be traced through that.
