A tourist’s adventures on the Island of Gods took a tragic turn after he plunged into a ravine in Tegallalang after taking pictures by a swimming pool.

AJ, 37, originally from Seychelles, was visiting Kenderan Village in Gianyar where he stayed in a villa by a cliff with his girlfriend SAN, 22. After massage sessions and dinner, AJ and SAN reportedly took a dip at the villa’s infinity pool last night and AJ went to the side to have his pictures taken.

AJ’s attempt to pose at the wooden railing, however, went bad as it broke and he plummeted into a 20-meter deep ravine.

Gianyar Disaster Mitigation Agency Head Ida Bagus Suamba stated that the evacuation was quite challenging due to the depth of the ravine and because it was dark.

AJ was finally retrieved past midnight. He reportedly suffered broken bones in his back and was immediately rushed to Kenak Medika Ubud Hospital for medical treatment.
