Pregnant woman caught stealing gold jewelry in Bali during ‘aura cleansing’ scam

A 20-year-old pregnant woman was arrested for stealing about 50 grams of jewelry in west Bali during an “aura cleansing” scam.

Gusti Ayu Putu Winda Pramanda Sari, who is six months pregnant, did not think she would be dealing with Jembrana authorities, perhaps because who would suspect a pregnant woman of theft? But Winda was reportedly arrested alongside her husband, Komang Pungki Adi Wirawan, 20 in Jembrana, west Bali.

It all started when the couple was reportedly called to the home of Yoga Astawa to “abstractly treat” severe pain and “neutralize an aura” on Monday.

The allegedly thieving couple then proceeded to make everyone in Astawa’s house wait outside while they were to perform the cleansing. During this so-called cleansing, the couple allegedly stole jewelry from the house then sold it to a jewelry trader for IDR16 million, according to Tribun Bali

But the theft apparently did not stop there. The couple went back to offer “treatment” for a second time and stole even more stuff, before they were eventually caught by Jembrana police.
