Police tell of pulling foreigners out of the bushes after Canggu motorbike crash

Two foreigners were reportedly in a serious motorbike accident on Canggu’s Jl. Batu Mejan, Wednesday night.

North Kuta Police officers out for patrol came across a wrecked Honda Vario scooter around 11:30 pm, Badung Police Traffic Corps Chief Putu Raka Wiratma told Tribun Bali on Thursday.

Upon closer inspection, they found an injured man, LR, 28, lying in the bushes, and an unconscious woman, VK, 27, not far from him, Wiratma said. Both foreigners were identified in reports as Australian.

The black Vario at the scene was almost totally wrecked, the police chief added.

Wiratma further explained that the pair had been riding at a high speed, going north on Jl. Batu Mejan, until they allegedly lost control of the motorbike and crashed.

“According to our information, the victims had been going fast. However, they could not control the pace of their vehicle and crashed into a tree on the edge of the road, and they bounced into a bush,” Wiratma said.

The victims are said to have been rushed to Kuta for medical care, but local reports have not gone into detail about the extent of the bule pair’s injuries.

Police say an investigation of the accident is being made.
