Sky Garden, arguably Kuta’s most infamous nightlife venue, has once again been forced to suspend its operations by authorities. This time, however, police said the suspension was not only due to an expired operational permit but also because the venue is being investigated after several reports, including those concerning sexual harassment and fraud, were filed.

Police Commissioner I Wayan Arta Ariawan of the Denpasar Police told Tribun-Bali yesterday that the police plan to carry out a case reconstruction this week at Sky Garden, after authorites reportedly received multiple reports involving the venue.

According to Bali Post, police have received reports of alleged sexual harassment, theft and abuse having taken place at the nightclub. Authorities sealed off the venue, located on Kuta’s Legian street, on Friday, with officers reportedly standing guard at the entrance since.

“This is to keep the scene sterile. Due to the reports we have received, we are still questioning witnesses and investigating further,” Arta said.

In March, Sky Garden was forced to temporarily suspend its operations because of an expired operational permit.

IGA Ketut Suryanegara, who heads Badung regency’s Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), said that Sky Garden’s management have yet to renew the venue’s operational permit until now.

On it’s Instagram account, Sky Garden just yesterday posted an announcement saying it would be re-opening soon.

“We are thrilled to announce that we have something massive planned out for you #skygarden fans – stay tuned,” the photo caption said.

Sky Garden has been the site of many controversial incidents over the years, including the arrest of an American national, who allegedly attacked a security guard at the venue in April 2017.
