An American man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a security guard at Bali’s infamous Sky Garden club in Kuta.

The American, identified in reports as Garyn Cancio, 25, was arrested by Kuta Police for the alleged assault, which took place on Sunday, around 11pm on the third floor of Sky Garden.

Police say the incident unfolded after security asked Cancio to move, since he was blocking the way for the bar’s staff to get through.

“The perpetrator hit the Sky Garden security, because he did not want to get out of the way. The offender was under the influence of alcohol. He became offended and hit the victim twice in the neck with a glass,” Kuta Police Commissioner Wayan Sumara said on Tuesday, as quoted by Tribun Bali

The police commissioner added that the security guard, Mengwi resident, Putu GAN, was cut on his ear and the back of his neck from the glass.

“The victim needed six stitches because of his two wounds.”

Police say the American will face charges that hold a max penalty of five years behind bars.

Sky Garden is certainly no stranger to controversial incidents involving foreigners. A Perth teen was arrested and then eventually released in November 2016 after stopped at the popular nightclub with a bag of white powder–which lucky for him, turned out to be crushed up paracetamol.
