Package of 500 ecstasy pills sent from prisoner discovered in Bali because of wrong address

A prisoner locked up in Malang, East Java has been identified as the sender of a drug package bound for Bali.

The package was reportedly shipped through local carrier JNE and contained as many as 500 ecstasy pills wrapped in children’s snacks packaging.

Ironically, it seems the drug package was uncovered because it was shipped to the wrong address.

Bali Police Narcotics Unit Police Chief Commissioner Frangky Hariyanto Prapat said that the case started when an East Denpasar resident reported getting a random package.

“The homeowner’s name is Budi Jento. He never ordered anything and he considered the package as someone else’s,” Prapat said at Bali Police headquarters on Friday, as quoted by VIVA News

Because no one ever took the package, Jento contacted JNE to come pick it up. Since there was no return address on it, the package was reported to the police.

Police found a phone number attached to the package was found to be associated with a prisoner in Malang.
