A motorcycle taxi driver for a rideshare app made headlines yesterday after he was arrested for allegedly molesting his passenger, a 15-year-old high school student who just wanted to make her way home after a group study session.
The suspect, identified as DGDPB, 27, reportedly molested the young girl throughout the trip from Teuku Umar Barat Road to the suburbs in Pesanggaran in South Denpasar.
Denpasar Police spokesman I Ketut Sukadi said in a statement that the student ordered a bike via a ride-hailing app at around 6:30pm on Monday after finishing a study session at her friend’s house in Padangsambian.
DGDPB came to pick her up. During the ride, he started touching the victim on her thighs. The student immediately slapped the creep’s hand but he kept insisting.
Once they arrived at the student’s home, she cried out hysterically for her father, who immediately went out and subdued the suspect.
The family quickly alerted the police, and DGDPB was arrested not long after.
Under Indonesian law, DGDPB may face a maximum of 15 years’ imprisonment for child molestation.
