A groom yesterday ended his own life three days before tying the knot, as he reportedly couldn’t bear the pressure that came with his wedding preparations.

The lifeless body of IKS, 26, was found hanging by a jackfruit tree at a local farm in Kintamani yesterday at around 8am.

“It is suspected that the victim was depressed [because of the] pressure of the approaching wedding day, yet the preparations were not sufficient yet,” said Bangli Police spokesman First Inspector Wayan Sarta.

The night before his death, IKS and his wife-to-be NKS, 18, had a family meeting to discuss the wedding preparations. NKS decided to stay the night at IKS’ house but, after she woke up, he was nowhere to be seen.

Her calls to his phone went unanswered.

“[The bride later] received information that the victim had committed suicide by hanging [himself] at a jackfruit tree,” Wayan added.

Authorities found no evidence of foul play in IKS’ death, and his family has decided against an autopsy on the body.
