A four-wheel drive driven by two foreign nationals reportedly fell from a cliff in Bangli regency yesterday after the driver lost control of the vehicle on an uphill slope.

Sulhadi, a spokesperson for the Bangli Police, told Tribun-Bali that the accident took place around 2pm. The vehicle, a black Toyota Land Cruiser, was ascending an uphill slope when the driver, identified by his initials SKA, lost control and the vehicle began to roll backwards.

The car then fell from a cliff of about 10-meter high and crashed at the bottom, injuring SKA and the other passenger, who police identified by her initials HBK. According to police, the victims are a married couple from Australia.

A video shared on Instagram by @denpostnews showed officers and local residents pushing the car to the road and then attempting to push it onto its wheels.

Sulhadi also explained that HBK was bleeding from her ears after the incident and it is suspected that she fractured her back ribs.

“Both victims are conscious, they were immediately taken to the Bangli General Hospital to be treated,” Sulhadi said, adding that HBK was later transferred to BIMC Hospital in Kuta for further treatment.
