Khalid’s a capella breakdown of “Young Dumb & Broke” with a group of fans at Bali’s Tanah Lot temple took Twitter by storm, but a cover of the American singer’s number by a 13-year-old Balinese boy is melting hearts across Indonesia.
Khalid posted a video with a bit of “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke” to his Twitter on July 27, reaching over four million views as of August 2.
However, a performance from a rising star, no doubt inspired by the Tanah Lot video, is almost too cute too handle from Gusti Made Bisma, or “Gusma”, who appears to hail from Karangasem, East Bali.
Posted to his Instagram account on July 28, the day after Khalid’s video, Gusma takes on the song with his acoustic guitar and it’s just too adorable. Especially if you focus on all his passionate facial expressions!
While nowhere near Khalid’s four million views, he’s done pretty well for himself at over 46k and loads of comments from Indonesian netizens praising his rendition.
Gusma’s done other covers on his account like Indonesian karaoke staple “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis and “Let Me” by Zayn, going for a more contemporary twist.
After bingeing all his videos, we have to say the kid is one to watch.
