Drug sweep at Bangli Narcotics Prison reveals traces of meth, no one surprised… at all

A joint Bali Police team swept for drugs at Bangli Narcotics Prison on Thursday and to literally no one’s surprise, found something.

For about three hours, as many as 153 police personnel scoured through every inch of the cell block in Bangli.

They didn’t find any drugs at first, but at last they found the remainders of a packet of meth that was allegedly used by one or some of the prisoners in the cell block. Police made the discovery in the cleverest of hiding places—dumped in one of the cells’ garbage cans.

This particular cell happens to be inhabited by prisoners who were just transferred from Bali’s notorious Kerobokan Prison.

The Director for Bali Police’s Narcotics Investigation Unit, Chief Commissioner Raden Purwadi confirmed their findings.

“When asked (at first), there was no one that took responsibility for the meth package,” Purwadi told Tribun Bali on thursday. Of course they said that.

But the jig was up when the five cellmates had their urine tested, as their results all came back positive, which apparently ultimately led to a confession being made.

They will be transferred for rehabilitation, Purwadi said.
