A husband and wife were found dead, embracing each other, tragically buried by a landslide in Indonesia’s Bali on Tuesday morning.

The bodies of Mistari, 43 and his wife, Mirniati, 41, were discovered in Candikuning Village of Tabanan Regency at 8am.

Candikuning chief village elder, I Made Muditha said the couple, who were originally from Probolinggo, East Java, stayed and worked in the area as vegetable farmers and were found close to their home.

“Both were found in a hugging position,” Muditha said on Tuesday, as quoted by Kompas.

“They’ve been here for three years,” he added.

Now in the peak of rainy season, heavy rains have flushed out a number of spots throughout the island. Though many areas have been experiencing extreme flooding, landslides have also been triggered in some places like Candikuning.

While an annual occurrence in Bali in time with rainy season, last year landslides were particularly bad in the Kintamani region, with the landslides taking the lives of 13 victims in the area.
