A western woman reportedly caused a ruckus on Tuesday in Ubud as she ran naked down Ubud’s Jl. Raya Tjampuhan.
The woman, whose name, age, and nationality remain unidentified in Bali reports, allegedly ran out of money while on vacation in Bali. It’s suspected that her running out money was the trigger for her naked rampage.
Police were called to help the distressed woman after locals reported the disturbance and were apparently too freaked out to approach her.
Nyoman Riawan, 45, a guide who witnessed the “streaking” said the woman seemed possessed and was yelling at everyone.
“No one dared to approach her, she was very large,” Riawan told Tribun Bali.
Ubud Police Chief Nyoman Wirajaya said police arrived to address the situation at 1 pm after receiving reports.
Once he arrived at the scene, Wirajaya said the woman was slamming down chairs at a minimarket and seemed to be having a “tantrum.”
“It made tourists there uneasy. But it was just a tantrum, she wasn’t attacking anybody,” he said.
It took almost two hours to calm the woman down and bring her into police custody, he added.
“When we were communicating with the foreigner, she seemed to be under the influence of medication. Like drugs for combatting depression,” Wirajaya conclulded.
Police say that they have handed the woman’s case over to Denpasar immigration.
