Come the end of the week, rates on Bali’s toll road will go up for vehicles, except for those riding motorbikes.
PT Jasa Marga Bali Tol (JBT), Indonesia’s toll road manager confirmed the news on Tuesday, saying the rate increase will take place on Friday at 12:01am.
“The increase is important to maintain the investment into the toll road,” said Jasa Marga Bali Toll finance director, Sukariyadi Rudi Meidiyanto.
Here are the toll tariff adjustments, as published by Tribun Bali, broken into vehicle class:
Class I IDR11,500 from IDR11,000
Class II IDR17,500 from IDR16,000
Class III IDR23,500 from IDR22,000
Class IV IDR29,000 from IDR27,500
Class V IDR35,000 from IDR33,000
Class VI IDR4,500 from IDR4,500 (two-wheeled vehicles remain the same).
Meidiyanto says the rates have been raised for six reasons. First to help with loan repayment for funds used to build the toll road. Second, to help with the operational costs and the maintenance of the road so that it always clean, safe, and comfortable.
Third, to help with periodic maintenance of roads, such as overlaying, road widening, adding substations, developing transaction technology. Fourth, for helping pay the operational costs of toll road workers such as toll collectors, patrols, and so on. Fifth, environmental maintenance around the toll road, especially the preservation of mangrove forests. And lastly, to help pay taxes.
Located in south Bali, the toll is a major connector between Nusa Dua, the airport, and Sanur. Now only accepting e-payments, the road went cash-free on Oct. 1, causing quite a ruckus at first.
