A security officer at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport (supposedly the third best airport in the world in its class) was arrested for his involvement in drug trafficking.

“It was methamphetamine. Yes, it’s been properly secured by national police. We are coordinating with them for disclosure,” head of Ngurah Rai Customs, Budi Harjanto said on Tuesday, as quoted by Tribun Bali.

IFK, 30, has been monitored for quite some time and is believed to be a part of a larger criminal network, according to Harjanto.

The meth had apparently come in to Indonesia from Malaysia.

While on duty, the Ngurah Rai security officer allegedly took the drugs from Malaysia and hid them on a plane, which was then cleared by airport personnel.

IFK would also allegedly smuggle drugs onto planes and send them to Jakarta.

Police confiscated 14 kilograms of meth from IFK.

Though the risk was large, so was the reward. IFK would get paid off some Rp 50 million for his deliveries, according to reports. And this was not his first one.

Police say they are deepening the investigation involving IFK.
