Immigration at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport has turned back an Australian tourist because of the man’s involvement in a pedophilia case back in his home country.

The Australian, identified in reports as BGC, 62, flew in to Bali on Jetstar flight JQ43 from Melbourne on the afternoon of May 2.

The man was reportedly put on a flight back to Oz the same night.

“It’s true, there is one person from Australia that we’ve blocked entrance to Bali for,” Bali Ngurah Rai Airport Customs Chief Budi Harjanto told Merdeka, confirming the news.

Indonesian Immigration has previously stated that is working on tightening up its monitoring of foreigners entering the country, screening especially for people with sex abuse records and asylum seekers.

This is growing increasingly apparent as more and more reports are released of alleged Australian sex offenders getting denied entry into Bali.

Immigration has said that it’s communicating with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to grow its database of Australian sex offenders. So while the sex offenders apparently aren’t blocked from international travel out of Australia, that doesn’t mean Indonesia has to let them in.
