An Algerian man has been arrested in Bali after caught on CCTV stealing another tourist’s bag from a lounge in Kuta.
Identified in local news reports as Badreddine Sahnoune Sidi M’hammed, the man was apparently captured on camera swiping a French tourist’s bag from the pool area at Beach Lounge on Kuta Beach.
The 36-year-old is now in police custody, but it’s not yet clear if he is being charged.
“We have secured the suspect for theft at the pool are of the Beach Lounge on Jl. Pantai Kuta. It happened on Saturday around 11:30 am,” Kuta Police Chief Wayan Sumara told reporters on Thursday.
“After receiving the victim’s report, we immediately investigated. And secured him in a hotel in the Legian area,” Sumara said.
