Not long after her anticipated special gala dinner scheduled for this weekend got canceled, former Japanese adult film star Maria Ozawa (more popularly known as Miyabi among Indonesians) recently took to her Instagram to express regret about canceling her Indonesia trip.
“Hello, Indonesian people. [I] apologize. For several reasons, I have to cancel going to Indonesia and have the gala dinner with you,” she wrote in the caption.
In the video, she said, “Hi guys. This is Maria Ozawa, um, I don’t know how to start this off but, um, I was going to go to Indonesia … but the staff and I decided not to go this time because I heard there’s gonna be a little [demonstration] over there.”
“It’s very devastating because I was really, really, really excited to go to Bali and to see all of my fans there … I think we are just going to kinda like wait until the news dies down. I hope that I can go back again this year.
“So, um, I’m sorry for all the cancellations that I had to do but for my safety, we all decided I shouldn’t go this time. And maybe see you guys very, very soon, hopefully this year.”
As of today, the post has been liked by more than 16,000 accounts. Many of the comments showed support for the vixen, with some suggestions that she should plan the dinner in Bali instead of Jakarta.
As previously reported, the gala dinner was scheduled for this upcoming Sunday but it was canceled due to “overwhelming negative public response.”

One of the complainants, Damai Hari Lubis, former spokesman of firebrand cleric Rizieq Shihab, feared a hidden political agenda behind the gala dinner. He demanded Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to reject the permit for the event because he feared it would be a stain on the politician’s career at the end of his administration, as he has been widely touted as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
It should be noted that Miyabi, a darling amongst many Indonesians despite retiring from pornography years ago, have visited Bali a couple of times in the past. Most recently, she visited Bali in April, right in the middle of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan.
Miyabi enjoys immense popularity in Indonesia – ironic given the country’s draconian pornography laws. There was even a local comedy movie about an obsession towards her, named Menculik Miyabi (Kidnapping Miyabi), which was released in 2010.
