Bali band The Mangrooves double-nominated for prestigious AMI Awards

One of Bali’s own bands represented the Island of the Gods at the AMI (Anugerah Musik Indonesia) awards last week with a double nomination.

The Mangrooves, a groovy Bali-based reggae and ska band scored two nominations for their debut EP release, “Live EP” at what’s considered the “Grammy’s of Indonesia.”

Held in Jakarta on Sept. 28, the AMI had nominated The Mangrooves for best reggae/ska/rocksteady single for the song “All in Your Mind” and best album design—courtesy of UK Artist Marina Renee Cemmick.

While they didn’t take home the prizes this time, we’ve got to hand it to them for such a major milestone in getting the recognition, especially when you think about all the other Indonesian music household names up for AMI awards, like Iwan Fals, Slank, and Noah, to name a few.

What’s next? The band will be touring Lombok and Jakarta this November.

“Live EP” is available in music stores throughout Indonesia and will soon be hitting the digital scape via iTunes, Spotify, and Deezer in late October 2016, according to a press release by the band.
